How to fix "Invalid BOOT.INI"
1. Configure the computer to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
2. Insert the original or untouched windows XP CD into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
3. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
4. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
5. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
6. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter your password is you have any, otherwise just press Enter.
7. At the command prompt type,
bootcfg /rebuild and then press ENTER.
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file.
Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All): type Y9. To quit Recovery Console type EXIT, and then press ENTER. Your computer restarts.
Enter Load Identifier: Type the name of your operating system, This is either Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
Enter OS Load options: type /fastdetect /noexecute=optin and then press ENTER.
