Sony's Flexible Electronic Paper

Sony might just introduce a future game changer with their latest prototype flexible electronic paper display that relies on plastic substrate instead of glass substrate that is extremely common today. The latter is heavier and more prone to damage than the former, where plastic substrate will also add greater degrees of bendability to it. Heck, it is touted to be difficult to break even when dropped, and is flexible enough to be rolled up just like actual paper. Sony has yet to mention when such technology will make it to the mainstream, but we think they will perfect it in a couple of years' time.

From Paper to Pencil

What if you can make a Pencil out of scratch paper? A lot of papers are thrown away as garbage in almost all offices. This is where a P&P Waste Paper Processor comes in a concept device that aims to make use of those papers to make a pencil. Put a paper into the paper feed slot, and then a moment after the paper is a complete pencil stick. It's a pretty useful concept design as it can help reduce wastage, and perhaps they should place some serious effort into turning it into a reality.

World Smallest PC?

While im browsing the net, I came across with this Apple Sized PC, I don’t know if this the worlds smallest PC but it’s still exceedingly small measuring just 52mm x 52mm x 55mm.

It’s called the Space Cube. It has a built-in 300MhZ processor and it’s also equipped with 64MB of SDRAM. There are a bunch of ports, such as USB, Ethernet, Flash memory, a VGA port, serial connection and Audio port.

LG bringing color and flexible e-paper

LG Display says it is developing a new generation of color and flexible e-paper that may go into future products such as e-readers or tablets.

The company expects to begin mass producing 9.7-inch color and 19-inch flexible e-paper, according to an SEC filing it made on Friday. E-paper, or electronic paper, is a display used in e-readers on which text appears as it would on printed paper.

LG introduced the 9.7-inch IPS LCD screen used in Apple's iPad, and remains a main display supplier for the tablet. LG also is one of the suppliers of the 9.7-inch e-paper display Amazon uses in its Kindle DX e-reader.

iPill a capsule shape microphone from Ozaki

iPill from ozaki is a compact microphone specially designed for iPod nano 4 and iPod touch 2, but not like any other microphone, iPill comes in capsule-like shape. It has an outstanding sound quality recording, and works with third party applications. iPill cost $13 and better than Apple’s microphone according to some reviews.

Sony has developed a razor-thin display that bends like paper while showing full-colour video.

World's smallest digital TV Tuner

Sharp developed the world's smallest digital TV tuner. The small module works with Japanese Seg-1 terrestrial digital broadcast (Wansegu).

The Sharp TV tuner module measures only 7.3×7.3×1.25mm. This is small enough that Scalar could integrate it right away into their ultra-lightweight Head mounted displays. Sharp also managed to design the VA3A5JZ912 tuner module to use only 85mW of power. This should increase the battery life when watching TV on a mobile phone.
The mass production will start in September 2007. Sharp plans to make 1 million units per month.
