Fix for Slow Boot up after installation of Dotnet Framework 4

Early this morning after I install dotNet Framework 4. My PC Start to boot very slow. So I search the internet for solution and luckily i found it.

Slowdown will happen if you have the following:

- Windows XP SP3
- installed .NET Framework 4

Here is what I found to fix the problem:

Solution A

1) Run cmd.exe from Start > Run
2) Type cd\
3) Type cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\
4) Type NGEN executequeueditems and press Enter
5) It will take about 10minutes depending upon system speed. After the process is complete, the following prompt will appear in the command prompt C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\
6) Type exit to close the command prompt.

After performing these steps, your computer will boot up at usual speed.

Solution B

Microsoft hasn't provided an official fix yet, but here is the fix that solves this slow system startup.
DOWNLOAD FIX TOOL

Just download the fix tool, unpack it and run. It will probably take few minutes to process.

How to fix Windows XP Activation Loop

Do you encounter a windows XP activation loop? Where it continually ask you to activate windows, but the activation wizard will tells you that it is already activated.

What you need: Untouched Windows XP Disc Installer or Original/Backup copy of windowsXP Disc

I always encounter this problem everytime I repair-install a Windows XP system. So here is what I did to fix the problem. First restart your PC then

1.) Log onto Windows using SAFEMODE with command prompt.
2.) Wait until the windows boot then Type "explorer" in the command prompt.
3.) Explore Windows XP CD and copy the TOOLS folder (located at support folder) to C:\
4.) In the TOOLS folder extract the DEPLOY.cab (this will create a new folder called deploy).
5.) Open the DEPLOY folder and run SYSPREP.
6.) Click FACTORY button. Notice that your PC will shut down.
7.) Power on your PC and wait till the windows desktop screen appear.
8.) Once finish Click RESEAL button and wait. Notice that your PC will shut down again.
9.) Power on again your PC and your done.

How to use Asus USB/MIR adaptor to other motherboard

One of my client recently try to use the ASUS USB/MIR REV. 1.11 (the 2 usb port type) adaptor which he got from his old ASUS motherboard to his new computer. His problem is any USB storage device he try to insert in ASUS USB/MIR port a "USB Device Not Recognized" pop-up appear.

The problem is, Asus have fitted filtering on the two data lines to each USB port in the form of a series resistor (10 ohms on one line and 4.7 ohms on the other) and a shunt capacitor to ground at the USB socket end which cause the problem.

The only solution is to remove this filtering by removing the four SMD capacitor (C2, C3, C4, C5). Do not remove C1, C6 and the electrolytics CE1 and CE2. I use hot air rework station to remove those SMD capacitors. After the removal the Asus USB/MIR device recognized any USB flash drive that I inserted.

How to Fix "Windows\System32\config\system" file missing or corrupt

When you start your Windows XP-Based computer, you may receive the following error message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\Windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

This problem may occur if "system" file is missing or corrupted:

To resolve this issue, you need an original or untouched copy of windows XP, and configure the computer to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and follow this steps.

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

copy %windir%\Repair\system %windir%\System32\Config

7. If prompt to overwrite the files just type "y" and hit enter. Once the file have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

Note: Once successfully booted to windows, you will notice that some of your drivers are not installed. Don't worry its normal when doing this repair procedure, Just reinstall your device driver and your done!

Unmountable Boot Volume BSOD Fix

If you turn on your PC and come across a BSoD stating UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, don't panic! or attempt to reformat your computer. This is very common issue when running windows OS, and not so very hard to fix. The most common cause of this problem (base on my experience) is improper shutdown .

To resolve this issue, you need an original or untouched copy of windows XP, and configure the computer to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and follow this steps.

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

3. Once you see a welcome screen, press R key on your keyboard. This will bring you into recovery mode with a DOS prompt.

4. Now type chkdsk /p and press Enter. This will launch a utility that will scanned for File System errors.
5. After the process is done, type FIXBOOT and press Enter and hit Y to choose Yes
6. Remove the Windows CD
5. At the command prompt Type EXIT and press the Enter key to reboot your computer.

And your system should now boot normally. This worked for me in most cases.

Track down the cause of BSOD

How to fix "Invalid BOOT.INI"

If you encounter this Problem "Invalid Boot.ini" error message when you start your computer. Try this steps to fix it!!

1. Configure the computer to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
2. Insert the original or untouched windows XP CD into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
3. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

4. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

5. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
6. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter your password is you have any, otherwise just press Enter.
7. At the command prompt type,

bootcfg /rebuild and then press ENTER.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file.

Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All): type Y
Enter Load Identifier: Type the name of your operating system, This is either Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
Enter OS Load options: type /fastdetect /noexecute=optin and then press ENTER.

9. To quit Recovery Console type EXIT, and then press ENTER. Your computer restarts.

how to repair NTLDR is Missing

When you start your Windows XP-Based computer, you may receive the following error message:

NTLDR is missing
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart

This problem may occur if one or more of the following windows boot files are missing or corrupted:

Ntldr
NTDETECT.COM
Boot.ini

To resolve this issue, you need an original or untouched copy of windows XP, and configure the computer to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and follow this steps.

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter your password is you have any, otherwise just press Enter.
6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk."e:" is your CDROM drive letter & "c:" is your Windows OS partition. This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

Normally NTLDR & NTDETECT.com are hidden files. So after you've copied to Windows OS partition type this commands

c:\attrib ntldr +r +s +h and press enter
c:\attrib NTDETECT.COM +r +s +h and press enter

and your system should now boot normally.
